It’s Friday and that means… Time to Flashback!  You may recognize the song today from the new HP printer commercial where the baby in the walker is speeding across the countryside.  It’s “Brand New Key.”

The song was originally sung by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Melanie[/lastfm] and became a novelty hit in 1971 and 1972.  It hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart in December 1971 and January 1972.  Her version of the song was also featured in the 1997 movie, “Boogie Nights.”
