NKOTBSB will be a treat for fans of boy bands across the years – but how are the two acts doing lately? We’ve got the Last.fm Trends team to look into their charts, to see if the old boy band magic still works…
NKOTB formed in 1984, an era of cassettes and vinyl. They’re known for their 80s hits, but Last.fm listeners’ favorite is “Summertime,” from 2008’s The Block. 170,817 scrobbles from 27,444 listeners puts it at the top, but this is a rather low showing.
BSB meanwhile have 954,871 scrobbles from 201,171 listeners for their biggest hit, “I Want It That Way.” Released at their 1999 peak, it shows that fans still flock to the oldies: “Straight Through My Heart” is the most popular track from their latest album This Is Us, but it only places 18th on their chart.
BSB are by far the more popular act at Last.fm though, with 15,765,55 plays to NKOTB’s 1,671,663. Compared to winners at the AMAs however, they have some catching up to do – Best Pop Group Black Eyed Peas has 40,645,757 plays to date. Could their AMAs performance, combined boy band power and upcoming tour dates put them back on top? Hang tough, and watch Last.fm Trends to find out.
