Florence Welch on stage at the Ed Sullivan Theater
To say fans were crazy for [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Florence and the Machine[/lastfm] would be an understatement. From the moment their dear Florence Welch walked down the center aisle of the Ed Sullivan Theater and then took center stage for her Live on Letterman webcast Thursday night, the audience was on its feet cheering, clapping, and grinning ear to ear.
And from the moment she dove into songs like “Howl” and “Drumming,” through the magnetic pull of “Heavy in Your Arms” and, finally, hitting the rousing chorus of sing-along closer “Dog Days Are Over,” the fans watching in person as well as online were ecstatic.”I’m freaking out watching that stream,” wrote Juanupnow
.ThumbsTheGamer called it “One of her best live performances.”ravenclawlumos: “How is this song not on my ipod? :(
Muy bueno.”Johanna Arconcil: “OMFG THAT VOICE!!!”valkirium: “what a great performer”Mira _: “She seriously makes me cry how good she is.”
Florence said “thank you” maybe 50 or 100 times from the stage–her excitement was as palpable as that of the people dancing in the front row of the theater. For an artist who’s been running through songs like “Dog Days,” “Cosmic Love,” and “Kiss with a Fist” for two or three years now, and is even more in demand now that she’s been nominated for a Grammy, to see such genuine enthusiasm is encouraging.
