2010 was a tough year for Paramore after the shock departure of founder members Josh and Zac Farro, but 2011 kicks off on a great note; a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals.
Last.fm Trends looks at the band’s competition to see who Last.fm listeners want on top.
There might be a groundswell of support for the Glee Cast, there might be an army of Train fans urging them on, but not a one of Paramore’s four fellow nominees comes close to denting the band’s lead in this category.
216,690 listeners have played nominated track “The Only Exception” 2,445,817 times so far, almost 500,000 times more than Train’s nominated track “Hey, Soul Sister.”
Maroon 5, Sade and the Glee Cast languish a long way back, with a combined play count of just 1,103,983.
“The Only Exception” is one of Paramore’s best performing tracks. It’s currently number two on their weekly charts, pulling 13,008 listeners in the last seven days. That number’s remained stable, fluctuating only occasionally as the Recent Trend graph on the right shows.
For a band to have such a consistent playcount so long after their last new release is a sign of a rabid fanbase. After two nominations without a win for the group this year could be their time.
Find out when the 53rd Annual Grammy awards are broadcast on CBS, at 8pm on February 13th.
