Zack’s GRAMMY Recap
If you watched the GRAMMYs last night, you’ll know there were some great performances and some shockers when it came to who won the awards.
One of the best performances, in my opinion, was [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cee Lo Green[/lastfm] & [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Gwyneth Paltrow[/lastfm] performing “Forget You.” It was a little crazy, with Cee Lo dressed like the NBC Peacock logo, and all the puppets singing with them, but it was one of the most entertaining performances of the evening.
Then there was [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm], who arrived on the red carpet “incubating” in an egg. Seriously! Then she performed her new single “Born This Way” in the first 30 minutes of the show. If you expected the performance to be like every other performance Gaga has done, you were probably disappointed. I know I was. She did however, pick up the GRAMMY for Best Pop Album for “The Fame Monster” and Best Female Pop Performance for “Bad Romance.”
One of the things that caught me off guard and shocked everyone on the Twitter & Facebook, was the announcement of Best New Artist. Most people thought this is the category that was a definite win for [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Justin Bieber[/lastfm] and when he lost to [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Esperanza Spalding[/lastfm], all of the Beliebers on Twitter & Facebook went nuts. Not to mention everyone else wondering who exactly Esperanza Spalding was.
[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Antebellum[/lastfm] was also a big winner last night picking up GRAMMYs for Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year, also Best Country Song, Best Country Album and Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group for “Need You Now.” The only issue I saw with them winning all of those awards was the one member of the band’s extrememly tight pants.
There might not have been the normal amount of awards handed out on TV last night, but that seems to have worked. The ratings for last night’s GRAMMYs were the highest since 2001, attracting 26.7 million viewers.
