Bubbly brunette and star of the seventh season of The Bachelorette, Ashley Hebert, might not have found love with previous Bachelor, Brad Womack, but the dentist-to-be is hoping to become the bride-to-be of one of the handsome men vying for her heart.
Quirky, perky Hebert might have the most handsome men of all the seasons, but from what we’ve viewed the last two Monday nights, she also has some of the most conniving. Maybe it would just be better to stay single than deal with the drama of these dating duds.
That’s why we compiled a list of our Top Ten Songs About Being A Single Girl. Even if Hebert doesn’t find love, these pop stars think she will be good–no matter what.
10. “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”-[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cyndi Lauper[/lastfm]
Punk-pop queen, Cyndi Lauper, doesn’t think a girl should waste the fun of her youth by focusing on a man. That’s why girls should just go out and have fun.
Some boys take a beautiful girl/And hide her away from the rest of the world/I want to be the one to walk in the sun/Oh girls they want to have fun/Oh girls just want to have
9. “The More Boys I Meet”-[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Carrie Underwood[/lastfm]
All us once (or still) single ladies know exactly what Carrie Underwood is talking about: Those horrible dates that you go on because the person “might” be the one, but that always end up being a waste of time.
Cheap date, bad taste, another night gone to waste/Talking about nothing in so many words/It’s not like I’m not trying/’Cause I’ll give anyone a shot once/And, I , I close my eyes/And, I kiss that frog/Each time finding/The more boys I meet the more I love my dog
8. “Bulletproof”-[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]La Roux[/lastfm]
Just like Cyndi Lauper said decades earlier, sometimes a girl just has to have fun. Babies and white picket fences can come later on the agenda.
Been there, done that messed around/I’m having fun, don’t put me down/I’ll never let you sweep me off my feet
7. “I Don’t Need A Man”-[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Pussycat Dolls[/lastfm]
When you have the vocal talent (and rock hard abs) of the Pussycat Dolls, you don’t need a man to do anything for you–because at their level they can have two hundred men doing things for them.
I don’t need a man to make it happen/I get off being free/I don’t need a man to make me feel good/I get off doing my thing/I don’t need a ring around my finger/To make me feel complete/So let me break it down/I can get off when you ain’t around
6. “Stronger”-[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Britney Spears[/lastfm]
What Britney Spears might be lacking in common sense, she isn’t missing in “relationship strength:”
Stronger than yesterday/Now it’s nothing but my way/My loneliness ain’t killing me no more/I, I’m stronger/Than I ever thought that I could be, baby/I used to go with the flow/Didn’t really care ’bout me/You might think that I can’t take it, but you’re wrong/’Cause now I’m…
5. “Miss Independent”-[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kelly Clarkson[/lastfm]
You might not need a man; you might just want one. Don’t let anything stop you from being in love. But whatever you do, don’t forget the strong independent woman you used to be, according to Kelly Clarkson:
Miss independent/Miss self sufficient/Miss keep your distance/Miss unafraid/Miss out my way/Miss don’t let a man interfere, no/Miss on her own/Miss almost grown/Miss never let a man help her off her throne
4. “U+ Ur Hand”-[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]P!nk[/lastfm]
Even though P!nk is one of the world’s most talented entertainers, she thinks any man who dares to mess with her can entertain himself tonight:
I’m not here for your entertainment (No no no)/You don’t really want to mess with me tonight/Just stop and take a second (Just take a second)/I was fine before you walked into my life/’Cause you know it’s over/Before it began/Keep your drink just give me the money/It’s just you and your hand tonight
3. “Single”-[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Natasha Bedingfield[/lastfm]
Natasha Bedingfield’s self-assurance in both the “Single” song and video is so alluring and powerful that we think it’s a perfect “inner strength” song to listen to no matter whether you are in a relationship or not.
I’m not waitin’ around for a man to save me/(Cos Im happy where I am)/Dont depend on a guy to validate me(No no)/I don’t need to be anyone’s baby/(Is that so hard to understand?)/No I don’t need another half to make me, whole
One of our favorite singer-songerwriters doing a jazz-folk cover of the Beyonce’s hit “Single Ladies?” We like it so much we might put a ring on it.
If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it/If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it/Don’t be mad once you see that he want it/If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
1. “Independent Women”-[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Destiny’s Child[/lastfm]
Bottom line for Ashley Hebert (and all the rest of you bachelorettes out there): Love is wonderful with the right person. Just don’t be afraid to be an “Independent Woman” before you find your prince instead of feeling like you are obligated to kiss some frogs:
Tell me what you think about me/I buy my own diamonds and I buy my own rings/Only ring your cell-y when I’m feelin lonely/When it’s all over please get up and leave/Question:Tell me how you feel about this/Try to control me boy you get dismissed/Pay my own fun, oh and I pay my own bills/Always 50/50 in relationships
