Celebrities Speaking Out About New York’s Gay Marriage Law

Friday night, New York state legalized gay marriage, and celebrities took to twitter, facebook and released statements on how they feel about the law.

Neil Patrick Harris was obviously thrilled with the decision.  He now plans to marry his long time boyfriend.

Steve Martin propsed to Alec Baldwin, tweeting, “Alec! Now we can get married! *sing* I’m gettin’ married in the mornin’! Wait. I am already married. NEW LAW REQUIRED.”

Alec Baldwin replied with, “Ok. But if you play that effing banjo after eleven o’clock….,” Then headded, quote, “Congrats, again, to Cynthia Nixon for all of her hard work on behalf of marriage equality.”

Kathy Griffin also took to Twitter to say, “tonight we’re all New Yorkers! Straight & gay alike, let’s all celebrate marriage #equality. The right side of history!”

Of course [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] chimed in, “The revolution is ours to fight for love, justice+equality. Rejoice NY, and propose. We did it!!!”

Ellen DeGeneres added, “I’m thrilled about the news from NY. Marriage equality! Every day we get a little closer. What an amazing feeling.”

The View’s Joy Behar tweeted, “Could not be more thrilled that gay marriage finally passed in NY. Congrats!!! #NY4M #MarriageEquality”

 

 

Darren Criss, who plays Blaine on Glee said, “As if I didn’t already have enough to celebrate and enjoy today. A big hug for New York from my lone hotel room in London.”

Remember [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Mandy Moore[/lastfm]?  She said, “MARRIAGE EQUALITY in NEW YORK! What a win and what a way to start the weekend!! California: time to follow suit.”

Rosie O’Donnell tweeted, “Happy gays r here again!!!!!”
