After all the rumors, and spending Christmas apart, Katy Perry & Russell Brand have filed for divorce.

Katy Perry has had one of the best years ever in 2011, with her tour, huge number 1 hits and being named MTV’s first Artist Of The Year, but it’s going to end on a sad note for Katy.  Russell Brand & [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Katy Perry[/lastfm] have filed for divorce.

Russell Brand filed the papers in Los Angeles, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Russell told the Associated Press, “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”

Katy Perry & Russell were married in India on October 23, 2010.  They have also been defending their marriage for months now, trying to kill the rumors of an upcoming divorce, that has now come to fruition.
