M.I.A. flipped off the cameras during the halftime performance on Sunday, and now she could be facing huge fines.
We all know what happened during the halftime performance of the big game on Sunday, and now [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]M.I.A.[/lastfm] could face fines for flipping the bird.
NBC has issued an apology for M.I.A.’s actions, but kind of put the blame on the NFL saying they hired and produced the performance. The NFL fired back saying that NBC’s delay system failed. Both though, could get away free from any fines, because of the contracts for the performers.
It was in M.I.A.’s contract that should the network or NFL be fined for something she does, the fine falls onto her. So, if the FCC decides to fine NBC or the NFL for her middle finger flying high, she will be responsible for the fine.
You’ll remember about 8 years ago, when CBS was fined $550,000 for Janet Jackson’s nip slip during the halftime performance. That claim was eventually thrown out.
If you follow M.I.A. on Twitter, you’ll notice, she has been very quiet since the incident on Sunday.
