From Scott Alexander
If “Scars On 45″ keyboardist Nova had his way the band would have been called, “The Polish Sausage Experience.”
Makes sense coming from a man who’s full name is David Nowakowski and thus the nickname, “Nova”. Even though that is a joke, it was apparently no joke trying to come up with a name for their new band a few years ago. As lead singer Danny put it, “we went through the same kind of process as every band goes through.”
It wasn’t until they listened to an interview by Emmylou Harris before they decided on their rather unusual band name. Seems Emmylou used to listen to her favorite songs on 45 vinyl to the point of “scaring” them due to overplaying.
And a band name was born.
This was another song “Scars On 45” performed for us in the Baierl Acura Theater prior to their concert with Ingrid Michaelson that night at the Carnegie Library Music Hall in Munhall. If you’re as fan of “CSI: New York” and a particular episode’s wedding scene, you’ll likely recognize this song.
