When I’m not playing “Today’s Hits” on 100.7 Star, you will often find me playing DJ at a Pittsburgh area wedding. And what an honor it was to be a part of Rich and Michelle Walsh’s wedding last July. And “Holy Batman” what a wedding it turned in to.
As the story goes, Rich Walsh, sports reporter for WPXI-TV/Channel 11 and his new bride, Michele, emerged from St. Paul Cathedral following their nuptials and headed for the steps of the Mellon Institute for photos. The same spot “The Dark Knight Rises” was filming at the time.
Arrangements had been made so the couple and their wedding party could gain access and with the help of a member of the movie’s security team the steps of the institute were cleared, and the newlyweds spent about 15 minutes taking photos.
Next stop was the trolley that would take them to the reception at Heinz Field. But Rich and his bride couldn’t resist asking the movie folks for a photo-op with the Batmobile. The rest is history as their photographer, Vincent Pugliese of Elizabeth Vincent Photography, snapped a couple of quick photos. Rich made it into the Batmobile “tumbler” cockpit, Michele’s dress however was a bit too much for her to join him.
As Richie and Michele celebrate their first anniversary this weekend don’t be surprised if you catch them heading into the theater for a peek at the movie that will forever be apart of their big day. Now image if they rolled up in the Batmobile.
