‘American Idol’ Round-Up: Who Else Could Possibly Be a Judge With Mariah?
A lot has been going on in the world of American Idol especially when it comes to the last spot at the judges’ table.
To help clear up any confusion, we’ve made a list of the latest names who have been added to the short list of possibilities. And of course, why we think they might fit in perfectly with Mariah.
The female rapper is nearly “100% confirmed to judge American Idol,” or at least that’s what Us Weekly reported earlier this week. While some question if Mariah could handle another lady on the panel, we think Nicki and her many personalities make her less another lady and someone for Mariah to consult with. Besides the two look pretty chummy in the video for Mariah’s 2010 song, “Up Out of My Face.”
A recent add-on to the list, the singer admitted to CNN that she was in talks with Idol also. The “You Oughta Know” singer came up about the same time as Mariah, when lip-syncing was a big no-no. The two together could impress upon the young up-and-comers the importance of vocal strength. Hopefully they’ll also reminisce about their younger days.
The Idol runner-up has been mentioned as a possible replacement since the very beginning. He might be the perfect judge to help accumulate the newbie, Mariah, show her the ropes of how Idol works and of course, give her a run for her money in the fashion department.
A new name in the mix, Kanye is definitely the wild card. Yeezy seems like someone who might be more interested in judging the fashion instead of the talent, but that would leave Mariah free to really critique the performances. Just don’t wear khaki, we hear he’s not a fan.
The youngest Jo Bro admitted he’s been in talks with the show. Mariah, the mother of 1-year-old twins, Monroe & Moroccan, might show off her motherly side with the teen talent and who wouldn’t want to see that?
The Taste of Country reported that Brad is also in the mix. The country singer could add a new outlook to the show, which often churns out country singers but has never had one as a judge.
Pharrell from N.E.R.D. is on the list too, which could be more of a pairing for producer Randy Jackson since he’s worked on albums by Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. But he did work with Mariah on her song “Say Something,” off of her 2005 album, The Emancipation of Mimi, so there might be a big family connection between the three judges, which could make things interesting.
The singer is another new one on the list. Since he’s currently on tour with former judge, Jennifer Lopez, he might be a good fit. He obviously knows how to get along with a diva.
In an email to CNN, the singer announced she’d like to be considered for the job and then defended herself against Kathie Lee who insinuated the legend might be too old. With Aretha and Mariah on the same bill, the diva-off would officially begin. We’d like to see who comes out of that one alive.
Who do you think would make the best counterpart to Mariah?
