10 Fast Facts About LeAnn Rimes
I know I’m not really a fan of hers. I also know she’s married to Eddie Cibrian who’s pretty hot. But we also know she does turn 30 today. And there are probably some other things you don’t know about this Grammy winner.
1. Taylor’s a fan of hers, even if I’m not
Taylor Swift has credited LeAnn as her influence into a country music career. She said on the Oprah Winfrey Show that she wanted to be a country singer after attending Rimes’ concert.
2. It’s not all in the family
On May 21, 2000 LeAnn filed a lawsuit against her own father, Wilbur Rimes, and her former manager, Lyle Walker in Dallas Texas. She claimed the two of them took over seven million dollars from her in the preceding five years. She eventually reconciled with him.
3. Wasn’t easy but she got there
Rimes was involved in a very publicized extramarital affair with Eddie Cibrian while she was married to Dean Sheremet. Cibrian was also married to Brandi Glanville, the mother of his two children. Each left their respective spouses and married in 2011. She has been quoted as saying, “I take responsibility for everything I’ve done. I hate that people got hurt…But I don’t regret the outcome.”
4. She deals with some medical issues
She was diagnosed with Epstein-Barr virus.
5. She won what way back when
She was a one time winner on “Star Search” in 1990, in the junior vocalist competition.
6. She could be a bit spoiled
LeAnn is an only child.
7. They start ’em young
By age 2, she learned to tap dance; by age 5 was winning talent competitions; by age 7, she had cut her first album and by age 14, she was the youngest artist to be nominated for the Country Music Awards.
8. She dabbles in acting too
Among some of the things she’s done: She played Meg Galligan in the made for TV movie, Northern Lights, based on the Nora Roberts novel of the same name. It aired on the Lifetime network in 2009.
9. Became involved with a charity by “Choice”
In April of this year, LeAnn was featured on the song, “The Choice,” which was released by Soles4Souls, as a charity single to help the foundation put 500,000 pairs of shoes on children who live without.
10. Who influencing LeAnn
Rimes has given credit to artists from various music genres, mainly country and pop. She has said that Barbara Streisand, Wynona Judd and Reba McEntire were primary influences on her career.
Rimes has said she was raised as a Southern woman so she’s polite, has great manners and knows how to handle herself as a woman (just ask Eddie). But she admits she’s no goody two-shoes. She loves to have fun when she wants to have fun.
