Grouplove Enjoy Success In Close Living Quarters
Each member of Grouplove is branded with their band tattoo so it only makes sense that the band is super close. In an interview with KROQ/Los Angeles Grouplove shared their thankfulness for finding each other and reveal why they live with one of the member’s parents.
“We are lucky to have each other and have found each other the way we did ’cause it’s been crazy,” Christian Zucconi said. “We’ve all been in other bands except Hannah. You grow up knowing them and you just fall into patterns of behavior.”
While it took years of being in various bands until they formed, Christian said he’s glad they met when they did.
“It’s cool to meet people in an artistic kind of arena where you’re starting a clean slate,” he said. “It’s really weird and surreal and new for all of us and it doesn’t happen that often so we always remind each other of that and keep it going.”
Spending so much time on the road together, the band also lives together when they’re not on tour.
“We all live at my parents house here in LA now,” Ryan Rabin revealed. “We had apartments here and then we started touring all the time and there was no reason to pay for the apartments but when we got home we needed a place to stay.”
His parents were more than happy to give the rest of the band a place to sleep.
“There are a couple guest rooms and my parents were like, ‘Yeah they can stay.’ My dad even drew little signs on the door. For Sean’s room there’s a cartoon of a bearded man with a hat, a cigarette and a beer,” he said. “Christian and Hannah there’s little eyes peaking that say ‘Christian and Hannah’s room’ and he didn’t draw anything for me so I feel like he doesn’t love me.”
While the band admit they make little money starting out they wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I’ve been broke my whole life and this is the most fun I’ve had being broke,” Christian said.
