The name Ed Sheeran may be relatively new to you, but it won’t be for long. The British singer-songwriter has been making a name for himself in the States and abroad thanks to two very big names: Taylor Swift and One Direction.
While Ed has already shared the stage with some of the members of Pink Floyd to perform “Wish You Were Here” at the London Olympics Closing Ceremony, two of his songwriting credits will appear on One Direction’s upcoming release Take Me Home.
In an interview Ed said a few of the songs that will be featured on their album he wrote when he was 17-years-old. The guys of One Direction seem to be a fan of his as well, even Louis Tomlinson took to Twitter to express his love for the singer.
Give Me Love – @edsheeran is such a good song! Still not bored of the whole album.

“Seventeen-year-old Ed just wrote a lot of love songs, so expect to hear a lot of love songs on their album, I guess,” Sheeran told MTV. “I had a wicked girlfriend at 17. … She was great. Actually [my] + album is pretty much about her so she spawned off a lot of songs.”
This isn’t Sheeran’s first stint at writing for the boy band. On their debut Up All Night he wrote one of Louis’ favorite tracks, “Moments.” One Direction’s upcoming album Take Me Home will be released November 13.
In addition to writing for One Direction, Ed shared with Rolling Stone what it was like working with Taylor Swift for her upcoming October release Red.
“We wrote a song on a trampoline, ate some apple pie and had a jam. It was very fun,” he said. “It came in 20 minutes, really. It was a really simple song to write. We just had two guitars and strummed it out. I’ve heard from everyone in the industry how cool she is; she’s got a very good reputation, but you never really realize what kind of person she is until you sit down and chat with her. She’s just a very warm soul.”
If you can’t wait until One Direction and Taylor Swift’s new albums are released to hear more from the singer, catch him on tour throughout the U.S.
