Miley Cyrus is showing off much more than her acting chops when she appears on Two and Half Men this fall.

In recently released photos from the set, Miley sports her new spunky haircut along with some very short shorts and a revealing nightie while in bed with Ashton Kutcher.

For her two-episode stint, Miley will play “Missi,” an old family friend of Ashton’s character, Walden, who comes to visit his house for a week. Since it’s a comedy, we all know it can’t be that simple so it seems Miley will develop a relationship with Jake (Angus T. Jones).

Miley’s also ready to show off a different side of herself musically.

The singer, who was once better known as Hannah Montana, devoted most of this year to making new music with producers like Pharrell Williams.  The result was a new sound, one she says is much more soulful than anything she’s made before.

Miley says her attempt at blue-eyed soul was a result of a recent stint in New Orleans with her fiancé Liam Hemsworth, who was filming a movie in the Big Easy.

“I got into the older Motown Sound vibe, which is really fun to mix with this country pop sound,” she told Rolling Stone. “I listened to a lot of Irma Thomas and tried to get that old soul into it, too.”

She promises that fans will be pleasantly surprised by her new sound even though they might scratch their head about the change.

“When you’re making a record you never think of what weird direction you’re going to go, but that was something that popped up in a few of the sessions we’ve been working on, and it’s been really fun,” she explained.

No official release date has been announced for the album, but Miley says she would like to release a single before the end of this year.

This will be Miley’s first album under her own name in two years. She released her third studio record, Can’t Be Tamed in 2010.
