It’s one parody you thought you’d never see. Prison inmates dancing to Psy’s “Gangnam Style.”
Last week in the Philippines, inmates of Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center put on a show for visitors. Despite heavy rain, the crew reenacted all the moves showcased in the music video with their own Psy impersonator. On each inmates’ back: a big letter P for Psy himself.
From the screams of those in attendance Psy may have just found his new backup dancers and bodyguards. Just in case he gets in any trouble, of course.
Complete with Psy’s familiar gallops and a few shoulder shakes and fist pumps, we have to wonder: how long did it take the inmates to learn the choreography?
This isn’t the first prison dance number to go viral. In 2007, CPDRC inmates performed to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Back in March their monthly performance was suspended after a riot almost broke out. On Saturday the governor allowed them to perform once again, this time to Psy.
With nearly 100,000 views inmates of CPDRC are Psy’s latest Internet competition.
