Looking a bit like James Dean, The Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers started the show with his band’s latest single, “Runaways.”

Pacing the stage in his black leather jacket, Flowers took control of the crowd crooning, “I knew it when I held you, I wasn’t letting go.”

From that moment on he seemed to do just that, keeping everyone in the Ed Sullivan Theater on their feet with new songs off of their latest album, Battle Born.

Flowers channeled Bruce Springsteen for “Miss Atomic Bomb” and asked what the crowd was afraid of during the anthemic “Flesh and Bone.”  The band’s love song for the technology age, “Here With Me,” even had people raising their iPhones instead of lighters.

The singer, who wore a smile the whole night, seemed to feel the the crowd’s excitement over their new music.

“I feel a lot of love in this room tonight,” he announced to cheers.

The rest of the night had the guys playing some of their biggest hits like the synth-heavy “Spaceman” from Day & Age and “Read My Mind” from Sam’s Town, which showed the crowd’s ability to clap in time.

In the end though it was their biggest hit to date, “Mr. Brightside” that had the crowd dancing like it was 2004.
