As many of you may or may not know– Glee has suffered a major loss in the past month. Cory Monteith (who played football hunk Finn Hudson on Glee) died on July 13, 2013 from a lethal mix of heroin and alcohol.
Lea Michele, Monteith’s co-star and ‘real life’ girlfriend, has been keeping very private this past month while she tries to rebuild without him. Last night at the Teen Choice Awards, she made her first public appearance since his passing and she chose to dedicate her award for ‘Choice Actress in a Comedy’ straight to her past love.
What this girl has been through in the past month is UNSPEAKABLE. She is 26 years old and has been through more in the public eye than many of us can even dream. Ryan Murphy, the creator of Glee, went to Lea immediately after Cory’s death and put the fate of the show in Lea’s hands. All she wanted to do was get back to work with her Glee family and continue on…the way that Cory would have wanted it.
She is a testament to moving on while keeping a person’s spirit alive. Her acceptance speech last night was enough to not leave a dry eye in the crowd. Watch it here:
