Interview: Sara Bareilles Talks Going Solo, Her Gay Anthem and the Power of Beyonce

Right before last night’s (October 23), We Can Survive concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, which was thrown by Radio.com and our L.A. station AMP Radio 97.1 to raise funds for the Young Survival Coalition, an organization supporting young women battling breast cancer, Sara Bareilles chatted about the power of a song, specifically her own hit “Brave.”

The song off Bareilles’ latest album The Blessed Unrest has become somewhat of a gay anthem and the singer says the track, which she co-wrote with fun.’s Jack Antonoff, came from a really “pure place, a really vulnerable place” and was inspired by her friends who were struggling to come out.
