Today we woke up to something we didn’t think would happen in our community.
We read about these terrible tragedies but we don’t expect them to happen here. Not in Pittsburgh. Not outside of Pittsburgh, not at Franklin Regional. But something awful did happen.
When I woke up today checked my phone as many of you do and came across status’ from family members and friends my heart sank. This can’t be happening here. This can’t be real. But it was real. It was happening.
Why? It can’t be happening in our backyard.
Is there something we can do? Something I can do? There is.
My heart aches for these students, teachers, and families. Violence needs to stop EVERYWHERE.
School violence needs to stop. It happens everywhere. It could start at home, on the bus, after school, anywhere.
You see someone being picked on you stop it. You help each other. You see someone having a bad day you ask them what’s wrong and you try your best to help. Be kind to one another. Don’t hurt each other.
I see a light at the end of this morbid tunnel. A day where kids can walk the halls without having to worry if their classmates will harm them. A day the idea of someone bringing a weapon to school wouldn’t even cross your mind. It starts with you. Be the change and make a difference. It could save a life. Be kind.
“BElieve THEre is GOOD in the world.” BE THE GOOD!
What are you going to do kind tomorrow? #BeKindPittsburgh
