WEBTASTIC: Uber/Lyft Ride-Sharing Service Ending Immediately In Pittsburgh

Well, this just sucks. Who will be my DD after my usual Saturday night Primanti’s stop with my friends?!

Looks like Lyft and Uber will be no more after the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission just issued a cease-and-desist order for both companies.

They will not be able to operate until they secure the appropriate authority from the PPUC. I am all for having the proper credentials but couldn’t we have worked on that while ensuring people would have fast/trustworthy transportation when they needed it? To stop the whole operation seems like overkill to me.

The companies have 7 days to respond to the PPUC then they will be responsible for making a final decision within 30 days. WHAT A HEADACHE! I loved Uber/Lyft– every person that ever picked me up was delightful and friendly. I never felt threatened or ripped off like I did at times with my other options.

We shall see what the PPUC and Uber/Lyft decide to do but I strongly recommend keeping the ride-sharing services in Pittsburgh alive. They ensure safety for those who need the ride and others on the road. -@KelOnAir
