The Democratic Party stands somewhat divided after a heated primary between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her opponent, Sen. Bernie Sanders. Though the race was called for Clinton weeks ago, holdouts in the #BernieOrBust movement pose a small obstacle to uniting the party and defeating presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump. Who better to foster unity between the center-left and far-left wings of the DNC than Snoop Dog, a registered Democrat and vocal advocate for chill?
Snoop will headline a July 28 concert at Philadelphia’s Electric Factory the night after the convention ends. By then, a nominee will be selected and consensus will need to form behind her campaign to mount a successful general election battle. Though polls show the DNC is less divided now than it was when President Obama became the presumptive nominee, Snoop is the ultimate insurance policy against splinter opposition.
The announcement comes on the heels of Snoop’s Hillary Clinton endorsement, conjuring memories of that time Bill Clinton admitted to smoking marijuana though he “did not inhale.” Notable inhaler Snoop Dogg will do his part to make sure the former First Lady returns to the White House.
